Since then, in my own internal medicine and cardiology practice, I have been able to enjoy doing what has fascinated and inspired me since I served my civilian service as a paramedic: to take on the responsibility of looking after people. Since then, in addition to my training as a medical specialist and my teaching activities as a volunteer, I have always been faithful to emergency medicine.
I had my first contact with emergency medicine during my civilian service in 1993, when I completed my training as a paramedic. During my studies, I worked for many years in the Munich Rescue Service for the BRK District Association Munich. Since 2002, I have been active as an emergency physician for the state capital of Munich and have experienced many assignments that made a great impression on me and which have also influenced my developmental path.
For me, emergency medicine is still an exciting field that is constantly changing due to new scientific findings, but which remains basically the same: detect, help and take responsibility for the patient.
FOCUS TV REPORTS
Heart attack, a fall down some stairs or a traffic accident: when the emergency doctor arrives, he rarely knows what exactly awaits him at the scene. But it’s almost always a matter of life and death. Although Dr Ulrich Hölzenbein has been working as an emergency physician in Munich for 16 years, every assignment is a new challenge for him as well.
The same is true of the current case: a man has suffered an allergic shock after taking medication and is in acute danger of death.

From 2013-2017, I undertook a teaching assignment at the Hochschule für Gesundheit & Sport, Technik & Kunst Berlin, Campus München-Ismaning. I lectured on specialist medical topics in the fields of internal medicine and cardiology.
For seven years, I was a course instructor for the Munich Emergency Medical Course, which is certified by the Bavarian Medical Association. The emergency doctor course imparts theoretical and practical knowledge from many medical specialities and prepares doctors for their work as emergency doctors.
